Dani Pedrosa returns to the top in Sachsenring

Pedrosa and Stoner after Sachsenring race

Despite having decent pace through all practice sessions at Sachsenring, Dani Pedrosa was not considered to be main candidate for victory at German circuit due to the fact that he is still recovering from recent injuries. Opening laps of the race were also not favoring Pedrosa, looking more like victory is going to be decided between Stoner and Lorenzo. However, after both Lorenzo and Stoner shown their best cards, Pedrosa pull few lap records from his hat and won for the second time in 2011. Jorge Lorenzo managed to steal second place from Stoner in last lap, cutting his championship lead for 4 more points.

Andrea Dovizioso won battle with Marco Simoncelli and put his repsol Honda in 4th place. Simoncelli was eventually re-delegated to 6th place by Ben Spies, who came long way from behind to steal 5th place from Italian.

Alvaro Bautista was strong all weekend showing promises of improvement in Suzuki garage, and transformed that into 7th place finish, which is best dry-race finish for Suzuki this season. Fact that Bautista has beaten both factory Ducatis of Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi gives even more credit to young Spanish rider, while also showing amount of problems Ducati is facing. Hayden took glory of best Ducati rider in 8th place, while Rossi ended race in 9th place, improving his pace from practice sessions by about half second, but still being about second slower than Pedrosa. Colin Edwards completed top 10 finishers in Sachsenring.

After Sachsenring, Jorge Lorenzo is still in touch with Casey Stoner, only 15 points behind Australian. Dovizioso is 21 points back from Lorenzo, while Rossi is far back in fourth place, four points ahead of Dani Pedrosa, who is on the winning mission again.
